This website is a collection of my most recent projects as of 2025!

Nicolas Diaz-Magaloni is a Mexican-American filmmaker dedicated to leveraging art and technology for social impact. He is a Student BAFTA-nominated filmmaker and a 2025 National Geographic Young Explorer. The National Geographic Society’s Young Explorer Program recognizes and invests in exceptional changemakers aged 18–25 who demonstrate courage, leadership, and a commitment to creating positive change. Each year, 15 emerging leaders across the Society’s key focus areas are selected to join this prestigious program.

His Previous projects include Body of Mine, a VR film exploring the trans experience, and documentaries for the Los Angeles Natural History Museum’s Sacrifice Zones exhibit, which highlights environmental issues in underserved communities. He has also produced several documentaries published by the Los Angeles Times. He is passionate about using innovative formats like VR to amplify stories of marginalized communities, particularly around the climate crisis, which he views as the most urgent, yet underrepresented threats they face.

Nicolas is currently creating short films as the creative Director of ECO, a bold initiative mobilizing Mexican youth to value and protect the country’s Protected Natural Areas (Áreas Naturales Protegidas, ANPs). Anchored by three pillars —strategic litigation, featuring a youth-driven lawsuit demanding that financial authorities allocate the essential resources to protect and preserve Mexico's invaluable natural heritage; communication that crafts a new, inspiring, interactive, and inclusive language for environmental advocacy; and the mobilization of young people into projects a deep connection to nature— ECO unites young people around the idea of celebrating and safeguarding the planet. Being part of this initiative will be pivotal for him to continue building his voice and leadership creating stories and advocating for conservation in Mexico. He recently created ‘Retorno De Las Animas’ a student Bafta nominated short film which will be published by the La times in november.

Currently Studying at USC Cinematic Arts
